SUSHI SHOP FOOTBALL CLUB BY TYRSA

— CONTEXT —

Twice a year Sushi Shop asks designers to create limited edition boxes to nurture the brand’s creative identity.
TETRO is in charge of producing these special editions since 2014.

— COMMISSION —

Forge a new partnership with an artist on the theme of a football club.

— CREATION —

TYRSA comes up with the idea of creating a blazon for a fictional SUSHI SHOP team. For the artist, the imagery of blazons and sports teams is full of creative potential, striking and offering him the opportunity to work with his first love - typography. He has fun combining this imagery with the SUSHI SHOP identity, which allows him to mix visuals from the world of football and sushi.

TYRSA replaces the stripes of the football strip with a row of chopsticks, swappes the football for a half-football/half-riceball maki, and re-works the laurel wreath traditionally used to decorate team blazons using grains of rice instead of leaves. The box’s visual aspect can be appreciated in two stages: at first glance, it looks like an ordinary football design, but as you move closer and take a better look, all the subtle associations between the worlds of sushi and football are suddenly revealed.
