Stalactite ✕ Christopher Bauder

Context

First presented at Bright Brussels, the installation drew 30,000 visitors over four festival nights. It was then featured as a highlight of the Solana Light Festival in Beijing, where it hovered above the main outdoor stage for three months, day and night.

Concept

Stalactite floats above the audience. Visitors gather beneath it, like drops fallen from the stalactite. The sequential, minimalist audio-visual journey runs on a continuous loop, inviting each visitor to enter, settle onto floor cushions, slow down, take it in, then leave at their own pace.

Installation

A suspended structure of 360 RGB light rods, arranged in an inverted pyramid. The layers of light respond to one another in pulsating animations, drawing complex three-dimensional patterns, fully synchronised to the original electronic score by Boris Divider.
