Seeing differently
As part of Lyon’s Festival of Lights, Studio TETRO collaborated with AV Extended on the creation and production of Iris, a monumental installation projected onto the façade of Saint-Jean Cathedral.
Concept
Iris explores how light transforms our perception of reality. By turning the cathedral’s rose window into a human iris, the artwork creates a shift between architecture and the body, between sacred space and intimate experience. Unfolding across seven chapters, the installation proposes a series of visual transformations — fragmentation, dilation and diffraction.
Installation
The projection follows the architectural lines of the façade and converges towards the central rose window, which becomes a living iris. Traversed by streams of light and evolving structures, it comes alive like a pupil in motion. Accompanied by an original musical composition, the installation immerses visitors in an unstable and constantly shifting perception of reality.
