After eight years of work, the Grand Hôtel-Dieu in Lyon — the largest European renovation project of a privately owned historic site — reopens its doors to the public.
Scaprim entrusted TETRO and Esprit des Sens with organising the opening evening, to reveal the site's new identity and create a landmark event for the city of Lyon.

How do you reveal the rebirth of a place steeped in history, in a single evening, with no room for error?
Our response
Make the audience itself the thread running through the evening, taking them through every highlight.
We designed and staged a journey in four movements, so the place would be discovered as a story — not just a backdrop.
The body as a threshold
The audience is welcomed by a performance blending dance and theatre, staged by Dominique Hervieu (director of the Maison de la Danse de Lyon) and Pierre de Lengaigne for theatrical direction.The architecture, as a score

A photography exhibition dedicated to the craftspeople who restored the site, making visible the eight years of work behind it.The heart of the place, as the final scene
The journey closes in the Cour du Midi, revealed through a light show by artist Yves Caizergues. The speeches are orchestrated by André Manoukian, who invites the project's key figures on stage. A dance performance follows, then a concert by André Manoukian and his quartet, then a concert by the band Ilhem & Band.
