GRAND HOTEL DIEU: RENAISSANCE OF AN ICON

— CONTEXT —

An iconic space in Lyon, renowned for its history and architecture, the Hôtel Dieu reopens its doors to the public after an eight-year renovation project. To mark the opening, an inaugural evening is organised to underline the creative and innovative dimension of this unique occasion and to create a landmark event for the city of Lyon.

— COMMISSION —

Create an outstanding event and reveal the new identity of the Grand Hôtel Dieu. Show the building’s imaginative qualities to best advantage by producing an innovative and creative showcase - a unique visual and sensory experience to generate strong emotions and memories.

— CREATIVE WORK —

For the opening of the Grand Hôtel Dieu, Scaprim calls on the services of TETRO and Esprit des Sens to organise the inaugural evening of this magical place. The TETRO agency reveals the new face of the Grand Hôtel Dieu as part of a whimsical evening by creating a showcase that reflects the building’s history. Nine hundred guests explore each space staged to emphasise the renaissance of this historic space and to reveal its architecture.

To generate an intimate and spectacular experience, TETRO creates an immersive artistic itinerary in four acts featuring 16 dancers, ten or so actors, the Orchestre National de Lyon, musicians, a light artist, photo exhibition, concerts and more.

This show is imagined and directed by TETRO, in collaboration with Dominique Hervieu, director of the Maison de la Danse de Lyon, who stage directs the dance performances, Pierre de Lengaigne for the theatrical direction, and the artist Yves Caizergues for the lighting and the inaugural light show to unveil the heart of the Grand Hôtel Dieu - the Cours du Midi. André Manoukian is invited to give an evening performance with his Quartet of musicians.
