Dialogue between architecture and technology

Conceived as a dialogue between architecture and technology, the installation designed by Trafik — VS — projects visitors into an immersive, interactive environment.
It’s an experience in which light infinitely alters and modulates our perception of architectural volume.

The piece is constructed as a black box in which visitors can move about. Inside, five squares of light are suspended in a row to form a vortex that is endlessly reflected in two mirrors arranged on either side of the box.

Outside the box, these two-way mirrors provide a view into the inside. Each is equipped with a touchscreen control display. Using these tablets, two visitors can face off against each other by acting simultaneously on the vortex. This ping-pong effect controls how the space evolves: its contours are shaped by the changing frames of light, which expand or reduce the actual volume of space perceived.
